Norgren
Testing bold ideas in the field
without the risk
THE BRIEF
Norgren, a part of IMI plc, boasts a distinguished history of pioneering engineering solutions in the fields of precise motion control and fluid technology. They envisioned a mobile application that could revolutionise the remote management of their new products.
THE PROBLEM
The application Norgren wanted to create would enable product owners to access crucial data, report issues, and generate comprehensive reports directly from the physical products. However, before investing in full-scale development, Norgren rightly sought to gauge interest in this innovative concept. They wanted assurance that it was a viable and appealing idea. To achieve this, they decided that they needed a fully functioning design prototype.
"This level of dedication to understanding our industry showcases their professionalism and their determination to deliver a solution that aligns with our unique requirements. Their genuine interest in our value proposition greatly contributed to the success of the project."
THE SOLUTION
Norgren had a vision but needed The Distance to understand their business objectives deeply and translate the idea into a functional mobile application. Achieving this required The Distance to become industry "experts", mastering the nuances, terminology, and, most importantly, the user perspective. This understanding was cultivated through collaborative workshops, extensive research, and regular communication.
The insights gathered were then translated into wireframes outlining the necessary features, user navigation, and interaction flows, despite the product not yet existing. Norgren played a pivotal role in filling in these conceptual gaps.
THE RESULTS
Norgren faced a pivotal showcase event where the prototype needed to be readily available for display on a tablet. Moreover, they wanted the capability to demonstrate the application's potential to other stakeholders. The Distance incorporated secret triggers within the prototype, enabling Norgren to initiate "Scenarios" that showcased the application's capabilities during the event.
This dynamic prototype not only garnered significant interest but also served as a powerful tool for Norgren to communicate their vision effectively.
